Ten years ago, visiting Atlantis on an empty stomach was a pretty joyless affair. If you weren’t familiar with the smattering of good-but-staid establishments favoured by the locals, chances were you’d end up with a second-rate pizza at the canal-side government cafeteria, or soggy squid and chips beneath the pier. Now, however, the city’s increasingly sophisticated population demands flavours other than salt and sea water, resulting in a burgeoning restaurant scene that compares to that of Rhodes or Alexandria.
